Arts in Clarington
***UPDATE FROM MUNICIPAL COUNCIL***
A recent report to council was generated following conversations with local cultural groups including Arts in Clarington. A recommendation was made “THAT the subject of arts, culture and heritage be referred to and included as a part of the strategic planning process of the next term of Council”.
Tell us what you think about the Arts in Clarington
And just to be clear… we are talking about ALL THE ARTS – visual, musical, literary, culinary, historical, media, artisan, drama, dance…
ANYONE CAN COMPLETE THIS FORM – YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN ARTIST – THE OPINIONS OF EVERYONE ARE RELEVANT TO THIS DISCUSSION
Thank you very much for visiting and lending your voice to this important discussion.
This site exists to bring together like minded, creative and artistic folks from within Clarington. For several years, the same conversation has been happening across our municipality: how can we create more ART? Every time we see a cool exhibit, fun event or local songwriter we are constantly blown away by how many talented individuals we have in our own backyard. The trouble is, we don’t know where everyone is. We are dispersed across our municipality into creative pockets.
Please complete the form above so we can at least begin to create the first ever Artist Directory for Clarington. More importantly, tell us what you think about the Arts in Clarington: where are the creative hot-spots and where can it be improved? We will not share or sell your info… we simply want to reach out and gather feedback. Perhaps once we hear from everyone we can share your thoughts and hopefully bring some people together to continue the conversation about how we go about fostering, celebrating, expanding and supporting the Arts in our community.
Here is a small but important motion from the recent Clarington Council GPA meeting…
Moved by Councillor Woo, seconded by Councillor Partner
THAT Community Services Staff be directed to meet with our community cultural groups to explore their goals and direction and to report back on their findings
The town is listing….
